Final major Project at University – Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett

This piece is based on Samuel Beckett`s play Waiting for Godot, in which the two characters Vladimir and Estragon wait at in undisclosed time and space for a man called Godot. The two are trapped in a contradictory relationship full of love and hate for each other, bound together by their total dependence on the man, who throughout the whole play, never appears.
The Costume is a tent-like structure made from a parachute and hot air balloon off-cuts. Both performers open pockets from the inside of the structure and push out a series of garments that they put on and take off simultaneously. The hopeless repetition of this “consumption” is a critic on the modern consumer culture and the way our metal health and sense of identity is influenced by repetitive outdoor advertisement.
